Prerequisites Those individuals looking to gain the skills and knowledge to gain an entry level
position as a Wildlife Monitor in BC. Participants must be physically fit and comfortable
being around predators. |
Information and Requirements Learning Outcomes
Acquire a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL)
Conduct predator and bear awareness
Examine predator lifecycles
Assess wildlife hazards and wildlife risk
Understand seasonality, avoidance, and mitigation tools
Practice deterrent, firearms and procedures training
Conduct ATV training and helicopter safety
Examine plant ecology
Understand health and safety
Practice reporting, report writing and field communications
Conduct handheld GPS use and field mapping
Review legislation, policy, and roles and responsibilities
Examine cultural resource management
Complete Pipeline Construction Safety Training
Conduct wildlife monitoring mentoring

All Course materials will be included in this course.
This course will run through the weekend as well.
