CSDM-N136 Introduction to Open Source Software for Creative Design: Open source software applications are free or low cost alternatives to commercially available and often expensive applications. In this course, students are introduced to open source alternatives to the most popular Adobe Creative Cloud design applications. Open source applications such as GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), Vectr and Scribus provide basic options for digital imaging, creating/editing graphics, and desktop publishing. While these applications do not offer the full functionality of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign, they are great tools for emerging creatives on a limited budget.
