Tim Horton Event Centre Cochrane is the birthplace of Tim Horton, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame who founded the Tim Hortons doughnut and coffee shop chain back in 1964. Horton also grew up playing ice hockey in Cochrane.
In 1948, he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization; eventually winning four Stanley Cups and becoming a legendary stature for the historic franchise.
And so, this state-of-the-art and newest recreational complex in Northeastern Ontario was named after Mr. Horton. Learn all about the centre’s extensive features and what it brings to the community.
The Arena Welcome to the home of the Cochrane Crunch. The town’s Junior ‘A’ hockey team keeps the arena and our community busy in the winter, hosting teams from all over Northern Ontario.
Featuring a newly renovated VIP viewing box above the ice surface, the arena’s seating capacity is well over six hundred people. The arena is available to public and private users throughout the winter months.
Swimming Pool The complex boasts a beautiful fun-filled swimming pool, complete with a whirlpool, a unique lazy river, and a 21' foot high water slide, all set in a simulated tropical beach setting complete with palm trees.
Wonderfully unexpected and unlike anything you will find anywhere else in the north. Our pool is fully supervised and hosts various public, family, and adult swims during the week.
Our lifeguards are fully trained to provide swimming lessons and do so on a personal basis.
Fitness Centre The centre provides a fitness centre of 500 square feet, which includes new equipment for patrons to enjoy. Also available are custom fitness programs as well as specialty classes such as spinning, rowing, yoga and step.
Community Hall The centre is proud to have a beautiful community hall that hosts many special functions throughout the year. It has a ground level entrance, a fully equipped kitchen that any caterer would love,
and can accommodate up to 613 people. The hall may be booked per day or for a weekend, depending on customer needs.
